Alicia has over 10 years of medical experience and has a well diverse nursing background from progressive care/trauma, medical-surgical, psychiatry, home health, veteran affairs, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities. Alicia co-founded Willow’s Tree Behavioral Health with her husband, with the goal to destigmatize negative views and beliefs toward individuals with mental health conditions. Alicia’s passion for mental health flourished while assisting veterans with their disability claims and seeing the need for compassionate and devoted practitioners. Alicia is an advocate for mental health awareness, self-care and improving access to quality mental health resources. Alicia obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Bethune Cookman University, her Master of Science Degree from Florida A & M University and post-master certification in psychiatry from the University of Cincinnati. She is a member of American Association of Nursing Practitioners, American Nursing Credentialing Center and Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. She has been on the editorial committee for Florida Baby, 2021 and has published scholarly projects throughout her nursing career. Alicia approaches each patient as an individual treating them with an empathetic approach and a holistic mindset. She believes in supporting each patient’s mental health and physical health by integrating an evidence-based patient-centered approach.
