Vamsi Velcheti, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.S.C.O., F.C.C.P., serves as Chief of Hematology and Oncology and Florida Department of Health Chair of Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic, and is a member of Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. A nationally recognized expert in lung cancer, Dr. Velcheti has been instrumental in the development of novel therapeutics and serves on national and international scientific and educational committees, including at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). He has received numerous national awards and was named one of the Top Lung Cancer Doctors in the NYC area by Castle Connolly for four consecutive years (2021 — 2024). Holding an advanced degree in healthcare strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, he is at the forefront of deploying advanced AI and automation tools to transform cancer care delivery. Dr. Velcheti leads a multidisciplinary thoracic oncology program specializing in biomarker-driven targeted therapies, immuno-oncology, and early-phase drug development. In addition, his pioneering work integrates AI-driven predictive models and automated care pathways to enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline treatment planning, and deliver a more personalized and seamless patient experience, ultimately improving outcomes across the cancer care continuum.
